Ivaylo Kovachev received his first piano lesson in Sofia, his hometown, when he was five years old. At the age of twelve, he gave his first public recital. While acquiring his teaching diploma at the National Secondary School of Music, Ivaylo Kovachev already gave various recitals and appeared as a soloist with the Academic Symphony Orchestra of Sofia.
During his studies at the National Music Academy in Sofia, the significant artist and performer Prof. Milena Mollova (a student of Emil Gilels) supported him. For his soloist diploma, Ivaylo Kovachev took first-class honours.
He continued his artistic studies in Switzerland, first with Erika Radermacher in Bern and then in Prof. Homero Francesch's soloist class in Zürich. Several Master courses, amongst others with Gérmaine Monier in Salzburg and with Marco Tezza in Italy, offered the basis for his career as a pianist.

After his appearance with the programme Trois B (Bach, Beethoven, Brahms), Ivaylo Kovachev's interpretation was described as poésie du piano ( Nice-Matin, 2002).
Bulgarian radio and TV stations have broadcast several of his life performances.
With his wide and varied repertoire, Ivaylo Kovachev appears regularly as a soloist and chamber musician in France, Austria, Greece, Bulgaria and in Switzerland. |
